About CCHS
History

1998:
During a two year term serving on the Board of Directors of an Orange County Christian high school, God stirs up a vision in the heart of Edward Zorn (CCHS Trustee and Executive Director) to bring a Christian high school to Corona.

1999:
Following conferences and workshops sponsored by the Association of Christian Schools International, the Zorns begin the process of evaluating different high school Bylaws and Governance structures. An outline is created following ACSI’s suggestions for the structure of a successfully run high school.

2000:
After involvement in strategic planning meetings to create new vision and mission statements and long range goals for the expansion of a Christian high school in the OC area, this analysis is prayerfully considered to help modify the goals and purposes of the Corona area high school.

2004 and 2005:
Review of various educational philosophies and curriculum centered on a Biblical worldview begins. Workshops, forums, meetings with curriculum designers and annual attendance of the Christian Home Educators Association of California conventions lead to understanding the importance of Classical Education in Christian schools.

2006:
God leads the Zorns to My Father’s House Church where they meet a pastor who shares a vision God gave him back in 1993 regarding a Christian high school in Corona. God showed this pastor a large, state-of-the-art campus including an extensive athletic complex, visual and performing arts buildings, and hundreds of students learning in a dynamic and innovative fashion.

After researching and discovering the shortfalls of the governmental public school systems and their clear intentions to indoctrinate our children into a secular humanistic world view, a plan is set in place. An outline and structure is developed for a high school that will allow the existing Christian schools and churches in Corona to pull together as a Christian community.

Corona Christian High School Saints is decided upon for the school name.

Ephesians 1:17-18 is chosen as the Foundational Scripture.

CCHS decides to establish a temporary location to seed the school for its first few years, while a full sized permanent campus is designed and developed.

2007:
A meeting is set up with Roger Harris, the Executive Director of Crossroads Christian Schools, to explain the vision of a Christian high school where schools and churches come together as a community, and to invite Crossroads to support the vision. A meeting is also set up with Olive Branch Christian Academy to invite their input and support.

Christian Classical Education utilizing the Principle Approach method of teaching is established as the philosophy of education for CCHS.

The vision is shared with various church leaders and community members, each of whom pledge their support and prayers.

A possible location for the temporary site is evaluated and budgets for renovation and development are established.

2008:
February -- After sharing the vision with a member of the Corona community, a pledge is made to provide sufficient funds to obtain the proposed temporary site, and to pay for all of its needed renovations. The renovations include the addition of a full-sized gymnasium.

Statement of Faith

As leaders, staff, teachers, parents and students we believe:

1) The Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is God-breathed and true, without error in all that it teaches; it is the supreme authority and the only infallible guide for Christian faith and conduct: teaching, rebuking, and training in righteousness.

2) That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

3) In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his vicarious and atoning death, in his bodily resurrection, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in his personal, future return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations.

4) Man was created in the image of God, after His likeness, but the whole human race fell in the fall of the first Adam. All men, until they accept the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior, are lost, darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, hardened in heart, morally and spiritually dead through their trespasses and sins. They cannot see, nor enter the kingdom of God until they are born again of the Holy Spirit.

5) That the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Jesus the Christ.

6) That regeneration by the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, brings us to faith in Jesus Christ, and conforms us to the image of Christ.

7) In bringing us to faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit incorporates us into the body of Christ, his church, the community of all believers in heaven and on earth. The church is called to bear witness to Christ among the nations by praising God, preaching the good news, training up the believers , healing the sick, serving the poor, setting free the oppressed, and caring for creation. The gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit empower each of us for this mission.

8) In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.
