Q When does Corona Christian High School officially open?
A CCHS’s first day of school will be Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008
Q Where will the school be located?
A CCHS has been evaluating a site for the past few months. Since we are in negotiations, we are unable to provide details at this time. We will announce the location as soon as we are able on our website at www.CoronaSaints.com
Q When does the school plan on moving to its permanent site?
A School officials are in negotiations and working diligently to purchase a particular piece of property in the South Corona area. CCHS, pending the final closing date on the property, hopes to begin design on the permanent campus by summer 2008, with the start of construction by summer 2009. With no unforeseen delays, it is our goal to have the first phase of the permanent site completed by the 2010/2011 school year.
Q What grades will be at CCHS for its first few years?
A CCHS is projecting an opening enrollment of 50-60 freshmen for its first year. We plan to add another 60-100 freshmen in the 2009/2010 school year.
Q What is the estimated enrollment plan for the school at the permanent site?
A CCHS plans to educate 800 students per year at the permanent location.
Q What is the estimated student-to-teacher ratio?
A Corona Christian’s plan is to maintain a student-to-teacher ratio of 17:1.
Q What is Corona Christian’s educational philosophy?
A CCHS’s most important goal will be to instill in every student a distinctively biblical worldview. This means that every class, every subject will be studied from the perspective that the Word of God is the ultimate text. God’s Word is the supreme authority, the foundation upon which everything else is built. As the students build on the Word they will learn to analyze and think critically about each subject. They will learn to decipher the truth from fallacies, preparing them to go out on their own into an “untruthful” world and, from their training in logic, be able to think and reason their way to the Truth. This back-to-basics approach has been proven successful time and time again in turning out young adults ready and able to defend their Christian heritage. Students trained in this method become strong producers, capable learners of new skills, effective in business, dedicated to family, and most importantly steadfast to their Christian roots throughout the rest of their lives.
Q: Will CCHS be offering afterschool sports programs?
A: Yes! CCHS has a high regard for the spiritual and physical life lessons acquired through competitive sports. The school is building a comprehensive athletic program that will continue to add sports each year as the school grows. CCHS will begin phase 1 consisting of a boys’ football training program (scrimmage only), boys and girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, track and field, and pep squad in the fall of 2008. In its first year, CCHS will compete on the Freshman and JV levels as CIF rules require. (click on extracurricular for more info)
Q What are the plans for students interested in the performing and visual arts, leadership, and club activities?
A It is Corona Christian’s prayer that every student will find an extracurricular activity that will enhance their God-given gifts. We will begin the 2008/2009 school year with a survey of the students’ interests in the arts as well as other club options. As interest is shown we will establish our clubs. It is in CCHS’s master plan to design a performing arts facility that will house our visual arts, drama, choir, band and orchestral departments.
Q Will your teachers be required to be credentialed?
A CCHS’s teachers will NOT be required to hold a state teaching credential. Often, a state teaching credential means the teacher has spent many years learning an education system based on conforming to the world’s standards of education (i.e. evolution, moral relativism, secular humanism). At CCHS we are dedicated to training up today’s youth utilizing a decidedly biblical worldview. Romans 12:2 tells us: “And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is the good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.”
Our teachers are required to have extensive experience in the subject they are teaching, feel called by God to teach, have a heart for kids and a love of learning (whether they have a credential or not). Each of our staff is required to go through an intensive training course on The Principle Approach to education. This will ensure that all subjects are being intertwined with one another, creating a complete understanding of how subjects work together to form a whole education.
Webster’s 1828 dictionary definition of Education
“Education comprehends all the series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future stations. To give children a good education in manners, arts and science is important; to give them a religious education is indispensable; and an immense responsibility rests on the parents and guardians who neglect these duties.”
Q Will Corona Christian High School be accredited?
A CCHS will be accredited. CCHS will be eligible to apply for accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) after its second semester. We will also begin the application and accreditation process for ACSI as soon as we are eligible.
Q - What will it cost to attend Corona Christian high School?
A-CCHS will set the tuition rate at a level that will cover the annual operational costs of the school. The tuition for the 2008/2009 school year is set at $7,500 with a $400 registration fee. It is our belief and observation that successful schools establish high quality programs, and hire high quality teachers, and set the tuition from there. CCHS has a Financial Aid Dept. and has budgeted for scholarships that can help those families who feel they may need assistance.
